Sri Lanka’s youngest international racer, 15-year-old Hesali Peiris, closed out her fourth Indian round with a performance that once again turned heads and won hearts.
Racing under the TVS Racing One-Make Championship, Hesali took on some of India’s finest riders with years of experience, factory support, and home-track advantage – yet she held her own with the same fearless determination that has defined her journey from the very get go.
In the Ladies Open, she battled wheel-to-wheel against professional riders like Jagathisri and Anaya Awasthi, finishing on the second step of the podium.
In the Boys’ Under-21 Rookies category, she impressed the paddock by fighting her way to a strong P4 finish among 12 of India’s best young male riders.
For a competitor who began her racing journey just 12-months ago – with fewer than ten mass-start events to her name – this championship has been an incredible leap forward. Her growth in both confidence and pace has been remarkable.
Two Wheels Motor Racing Club (TWMRC) has long been a platform that helps Sri Lankan riders make their mark overseas – including Jaden and Aaron Gunawardena, who have both brought home gold medals at Asian rounds.
Behind Hesali Peiris stand the people and brands that believed when few others did – Ceylon Pest Control, Termipore, and Hellibees – along with mentors Shane Gunawardena, Jaden, and Ned Daniel, and a small but dedicated Sri Lankan support crew who made this journey possible.
As she now looks beyond India to the upcoming Asian rounds, Hesali continues to prove that Sri Lanka’s flag can fly high wherever courage, discipline, and passion meet the track. Because for this young and prodigiously talented racer, every finish line is just the start of another dream.
