The national team representing Sri Lanka at the upcoming 28th ITTF-ATTU Asian Table Tennis Team Championships 2025 met with the Sports Deputy Minister Sugath Thilakaratne, last Thursday (9) at the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar, India, from 11-15 October, is an important qualifying tournament for the 2026 World Team Table Tennis Championships.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister Thilakaratne extended his best wishes to the athletes and inquired about their sports gear and training requirements.
The Minister emphasised that the Government has no hesitation in providing its full support and resources for the team’s efforts to qualify for world-level competitions.
The Men’s team consists of Chameera Ginige (captain), Nimesh Ranchagoda, Chanul Dulsena, and Shafiyullah Akram. The Women’s team includes Bimandee Bandara (captain), Thamaadi Kavindya, Lesanya Sethumdee, and Shamalsha Dewmi.
Officials, including coach Buddika Dikkumbura and Manager W. M. A. Wijesinghe also joined the team at the meeting.
