Methmi, Muththusami clinch Cross-Country C’ship

Mutthusami Sivarajan of Central Province and Methmi Wijesuriya of Eastern Province respectively emerged winners in the Cross-Country championship at the 49th National Sports Festival 2025 concluded at Nuwara Eliya Golf Course on Saturday (15). 

In the Men’s event, Sivarajan of Central Province won first place with a time of 34 minutes and 20.31 seconds. 

Samantha Pushpakumara of Western Province followed in second, clocking 34:57, narrowly missing the top spot by just 0.2 seconds. 

Damith Hemantha Kumara, also from Western Province, finished third with a time of 34:59.

In the Women’s segment, Wijesuriya, an undergraduate from the University of Kelaniya representing Eastern Province, grabbed victory with a time of 38:40.93. 

Wathsala Herath of Central Province came second with a time of 40:04, narrowly overtaking Chamini Herath, also of Central Province, who clocked 40:18.
