Lahore, 2 December 2025 – The Pakistan men’s T20I squad is scheduled to travel to Sri Lanka next month for a crucial three-match T20I series as part of their preparations for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The Sri Lanka Cricket Board confirmed the tour, noting that the bilateral contest offers both teams an opportunity to familiarize themselves with conditions similar to those at the marquee tournament.
All three T20I fixtures will be hosted at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium (RDICS) in Dambulla. The series will kickstart on January 8th, with the subsequent matches played on January 10th and 12th. The series will provide Pakistan with valuable match practice ahead of next year’s global event.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, is scheduled to run from February 7 to March 8.
World Cup Context
Pakistan, the 2009 Men’s T20 World Cup winners, is slotted in Group ‘A’ for the tournament, alongside India, USA, Namibia, and the Netherlands. Notably, Pakistan is scheduled to play all their T20 World Cup fixtures in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka is placed in Group B for the home World Cup campaign, where they will compete against Australia, Zimbabwe, Ireland, and Oman.
The Pakistan side arrives in strong form, having recently won a tri-nations series that also featured Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. This victory followed recent successful runs in ODI and T20I series against South Africa, as well as an ODI series win over Sri Lanka preceding the triangular contest.
