Sri Lanka celebrated a proud moment at the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain, as two young athletes — Shanuka Costa and Chathura Dulanjana — clinched bronze medals in athletics, marking a significant achievement for the island nation.
Shanuka Costa impressed in the Boys’ 400m Final, clocking 47.72 seconds, his personal best (PB) performance, to secure the bronze medal. His strong finish against top Asian sprinters highlighted his growing potential and dedication to the sport.
Meanwhile, Chathura Dulanjana earned Sri Lanka’s second athletics medal with a powerful throw of 62.51 metres in the Boys’ Javelin Throw Final, also winning bronze. His consistent performance throughout the competition demonstrated great promise for future international events.
Both athletes’ successes are a testament to the hard work and commitment of Sri Lanka’s youth athletes and coaches, as well as the continued support from the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka.
The Asian Youth Games, organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), provides a major platform for emerging athletes across the continent to showcase their skills and gain valuable international experience.
