Raipur, India – In the second One Day International (ODI), South Africa achieved a stunning four-wicket victory over India, successfully chasing down a massive target of 359 runs, which leveled the three-match series at 1-1. This sensational win means the series will now head to a decider in Vizag on December 6th.
India, having been asked to bat first after captain KL Rahul lost the toss, posted a formidable total of 358/5. The innings was anchored by exceptional centuries from Ruturaj Gaikwad (105), who secured his maiden ODI hundred off 77 balls, and Virat Kohli (102), who achieved his 53rd ODI century (his second in consecutive games). This dominant batting display was highlighted by a significant 195-run partnership for the third wicket between Kohli and Gaikwad. KL Rahul also provided a late surge, remaining unbeaten with 66 runs, helping the team cross the 350-run mark.

Despite the challenging target, South Africa maintained a fierce fight, led by Aiden Markram, who scored a well-earned century (110) and held the innings together. Markram’s innings ended when Harshit Rana claimed his wicket. The momentum of the chase decisively shifted due to a destructive partnership between Matthew Breetzke (68 off 64 deliveries) and Dewald Brevis (54 off 34 balls), who amassed 92 runs together off just 64 deliveries.
India managed to spark a late comeback, with Kuldeep Yadav dismissing Brevis, and Prasidh Krishna picking up the key wicket of Breetzke. India’s hopes were further raised when Arshdeep Singh dismissed Marco Jansen. However, Corbin Bosch, who scored 26 runs off 15 deliveries, displayed great determination and successfully guided the visitors across the finishing line with four balls to spare. Bosch remained strong even after Tony de Zorzi had to walk off the field. Ultimately, the spectacular hundreds scored by Kohli and Gaikwad “went in vain”.
