The Cricket Transformation Committee (CTC) of Sri Lanka Cricket recently held an important meeting with Sri Lanka’s contracted women cricketers as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the development and future direction of women’s cricket in the country.
The meeting brought together players representing the Sri Lanka Women’s National Team, Sri Lanka ‘A’ Women’s Team, and the Under-19 Women’s squad, providing a valuable platform for interaction and discussion between players and key decision-makers within Sri Lanka Cricket.
Leadership of Sri Lanka Cricket in Attendance
The session was chaired by Eran Wickramaratne, Chairman of the Cricket Transformation Committee, who led discussions aimed at understanding the needs, challenges and aspirations of the country’s leading women cricketers.
Several prominent members of the committee were also present, including Prakash Schaffter, Honorary Secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket, Sidath Wettimuny, Chairman of the Cricket Committee, as well as former Sri Lanka captains Roshan Mahanama and Kumar Sangakkara.
Their participation highlighted the importance being placed on the continued growth and advancement of women’s cricket within the national cricket structure.
Focus on Development and Future Progress
Also attending the meeting were members of the Cricket Transformation Committee including Dinal Phillips, Upul Kumarapperuma, Avanthi Colombage and Thushira Raddella.
Joining them were Ashley De Silva, Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lanka Cricket, and Jamie Siddons, Head Coach of the Sri Lanka Women’s National Team.
The gathering provided an opportunity for players and administrators to exchange views on the future development of women’s cricket, player welfare, performance pathways, and the long-term vision for strengthening Sri Lanka’s competitiveness on the international stage.

The meeting reflects Sri Lanka Cricket’s ongoing commitment to investing in women’s cricket and ensuring that players across all levels—from youth cricket to the national team—have a voice in shaping the future of the game.
With women’s cricket continuing to grow globally, initiatives such as these are expected to play an important role in building stronger pathways, enhancing player development, and creating greater opportunities for the next generation of Sri Lankan cricketers.
