Big Boost for Delhi Capitals Ahead of Crucial Phase
Delhi Capitals skipper Axar Patel has confirmed that star Australian pacer Mitchell Starc has joined the squad and will be available for selection from May 1, subject to workload management
Starc has received the required NOC and is expected to strengthen DC’s bowling attack at a critical stage of the tournament, bringing pace, experience, and big-match temperament
Key background:
- Last played competitive cricket in the Ashes series, where he took 31 wickets
- Later featured in the Big Bash League for the Sydney Sixers
- Has been recovering from a shoulder/elbow setback since February
DC, meanwhile, are coming off a heavy defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, where they were bowled out for just 75 and lost by 9 wickets. RCB’s bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar destroyed the top order before a rapid chase sealed the game.
Current situation:
- RCB: 2nd place (6 wins in 8 matches)
- DC: 7th place (5 losses in 8 matches)
DC will hope Starc’s arrival can spark a turnaround at a crucial point in the season
