A delegation from the Sri Lanka Sports Journalists Association (SLSJA) met with Mr. Vijay Kumar Raut, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Nepal in Sri Lanka, on September 29, 2026, to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral sports media relations and bilateral cooperation.
The SLSJA delegation, led by General Secretary Karuppiah Ramakrishnan, included Treasurer Sampath C. Perera and Executive Member Saksivarnan.
During the cordial meeting held at the Nepal Embassy in Colombo, discussions focused on three key strategic areas:
Bilateral Collaboration: Enhancing partnerships and knowledge exchange between sports journalists in Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Cultural Ties: Promoting people-to-people relations through sports diplomacy.
2027 International Event: Securing cooperation and support for the major international sports media event scheduled to be hosted by the SLSJA in Colombo in 2027.
Addressing the delegation, Mr. Raut commended the SLSJA for its role as Sri Lanka’s apex body for sports journalism. He reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to facilitating ties between the SLSJA and key sports and media organizations across Nepal.
The meeting underscored the shared belief of both parties that sports serves as a vital bridge of friendship between Nepal and Sri Lanka.
