In a remarkable display of human endurance and cross-border unity, Manipal Hospitals is set to present a groundbreaking sporting milestone—the first-ever open water swim by a couple from Sri Lanka to India.
Driven by its philosophy of care beyond boundaries, Manipal Hospitals continues to extend its impact beyond healthcare, championing powerful human stories that inspire connection, resilience, and shared purpose across nations.
At the heart of this extraordinary challenge are endurance athletes Danish Abdi and Vrushali Prasade, who will embark on a historic journey across one of the most culturally significant stretches of water in South Asia.
The swim will commence from Thalai Mannar and conclude at Rameswaram, tracing the legendary Ram Setu route—an ancient pathway steeped in mythology, history, and cultural symbolism.
Scheduled to begin on May 6, the athletes aim to complete the demanding open water swim within an ambitious nine-hour window, battling ocean currents, physical exhaustion, and unpredictable conditions along the way.
More than just a test of physical limits, this historic feat stands as a powerful symbol of resilience, unity, and the deep-rooted cultural ties between Sri Lanka and India. It reflects a shared heritage that transcends borders, bringing together two nations through a single, inspiring journey.
As anticipation builds, this swim promises to be remembered not only as a sporting achievement but as a meaningful moment of connection—uniting waters, cultures, and hearts.
