Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta has struck a tone of optimism and gratitude following the team’s first defeat of the Indian Premier League 2026 season.

Punjab Kings suffered a spirited loss against Rajasthan Royals in their final home fixture at Mullanpur. Despite the setback, the Shreyas Iyer-led side continues to hold a strong position at the top of the points table midway through the tournament, reinforcing their status as one of the standout teams this season.

Taking to social media platform X, Zinta reflected positively on the result, emphasizing the bigger picture and the opportunities that lie ahead. She acknowledged the disappointment of not securing a win at home but highlighted the team’s impressive overall performance so far.

“Last home game in Punjab didn’t turn out as we wanted, but there are plenty of matches ahead. Thanks to the incredible performance by our squad, we are sitting on top of the table halfway into the tournament, which makes me very happy,” she shared.

Beyond the on-field action, Zinta expressed heartfelt appreciation for the unwavering support shown by PBKS fans both inside the stadium and across digital platforms. She credited the fans’ passion as a driving force behind the team’s motivation.

“Our fans have shown us so much love and support everywhere. We want to make IPL 2026 memorable for all of you—that’s why, Bas Jeetna Hai,” she added, reinforcing the team’s commitment to success.

In a touching personal note, Zinta also revealed the story behind her attire during the match. She wore a traditional red Phulkari dupatta, gifted to her 26 years ago by a devoted Punjabi fan. The gesture, she explained, was a tribute not only to the fan but also to Punjab’s rich cultural heritage.

Highlighting the significance of Phulkari—an intricate and vibrant form of traditional embroidery—Zinta expressed her desire to help revive and promote this fading art form by incorporating it into her appearances at matches.

“Phulkari is a beautiful but dying art created by local artisans. By wearing these dupattas, I hope to promote and represent them, and in a small way, help preserve this tradition,” she said.

As Punjab Kings prepare to shift their remaining home fixtures to Dharamsala, the team remains firmly focused on maintaining momentum and converting their strong position into a successful title challenge.
