In a significant boost for women’s sports in the country, the organizers of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) officially donated a sum of LKR 650,000 to the Sri Lanka Netball Federation (SLNF). The financial contribution is aimed at accelerating the development and training infrastructure of netball across the island.

The official cheque presentation ceremony featured prominent figures from Sri Lanka’s sports administration and cricket landscape. Among the key attendees were the Founder and CEO of the Innovative Production Group (IPG) — the official promoter of the LPL — Mr. Anil Mohan, alongside the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Transformation Committee, Mr. Eran Wickramaratne.

Accepting the donation on behalf of the sport’s governing body was the President of the Sri Lanka Netball Federation, Mrs. Vajira Neththikumara.

Speaking at the presentation, representatives noted that the initiative highlights a growing trend of cross-sport collaboration in Sri Lanka, where successful commercial tournaments like the LPL can help lift and sustain foundational sports like netball. The funds are slated to support grassroots development programs, player welfare, and preparation for upcoming regional tournaments.
